Six champions in 68 seasons is probably the single most revealing number in Turkish football. No seventh club has lifted the trophy since the league began in 1959, and record holder Galatasaray now sits on 26 titles. A league table tells you where the season stands; these figures tell you where the power has always been.

The 2025/26 campaign added fresh data to the pile: 812 goals in 306 matches, an average of 2.65 per game, a crowd average of 14,593 and a shared Golden Boot, with Paul Onuachu and Eldor Shomurodov both finishing on 22. Numbers like these only mean something next to earlier seasons.

This guide pulls together the Süper Lig statistics people actually look for: the all-time title list, goalscoring and points records, the longest runs, attendance figures and the head-to-head record of the Istanbul derbies. Historical figures are correct as of the end of the 2025/26 season, while the table and top-scorer list below update automatically from TFF data.

  • Most titles: Galatasaray, 26
  • All-time top scorer: Hakan Şükür, 249 goals in 489 league games

Süper Lig title winners: the all-time list

Galatasaray lead the all-time table with 26 championships, ahead of Fenerbahçe on 19 and Beşiktaş on 16. Between them, the three Istanbul clubs hold 61 of the 70 titles awarded. Few major European leagues are anywhere near that concentrated.

The gap has widened recently. The 2025/26 title pushed Galatasaray further clear, and they also hold the record for consecutive championships, winning four in a row between 1996 and 2000. Fenerbahçe, meanwhile, have not won since 2013/14, an unusually long wait for a club with 19 titles behind them.

The exceptions are what make the list interesting. Trabzonspor broke the Istanbul monopoly in the 1970s and now stand on seven titles. Bursaspor won a championship almost nobody predicted in 2009/10, and İstanbul Başakşehir became the sixth and most recent name on the list in 2019/20. Three breakthroughs in nearly seven decades.

Goalscoring records and the Golden Boot

Hakan Şükür is the league's all-time top scorer; Tanju Çolak has the better strike rate. The league average has held steady between 2.6 and 3.0 goals per match for years. The key marks:

  • All-time top scorer: Hakan Şükür, 249 goals in 489 league appearances, mostly for Galatasaray.
  • Best ratio: Tanju Çolak, 240 goals in just 282 matches.
  • Single-season record: Tanju Çolak's 39 goals in 1987/88, in a 30-match season.
  • Closest challengers: Metin Oktay (1962/63) and Hakan Şükür (1996/97), both on 38.
  • Most Golden Boots: Metin Oktay, six between 1959 and 1968/69.
  • Highest-scoring recent seasons: 1,062 goals in 380 matches (2023/24) and 942 in 324 (2024/25).

Comparing old and new records needs a caveat. Çolak scored his 39 in a 16-team league; today's strikers get 34 games or more. Victor Osimhen managed 26 in 2024/25 and Mauro Icardi 25 in 2023/24, and both are already treated as exceptional returns.

Who wins the award has changed too. Since the 2000s the Golden Boot has gone almost exclusively to foreign forwards, which tracks closely with the transfer budgets at the top clubs. 2025/26 fit the pattern: two international strikers sharing the honour on 22 goals each. The current standings sit in the top-scorer tab above.

Points records and the longest unbeaten runs

The points record stands at 102, set by Galatasaray in 2023/24, although that season ran to 38 rounds with 20 teams. Before that, Fenerbahçe had held the mark since 1988/89 with 93 points.

The ratio says more than the total. In 2024/25 Galatasaray took 95 points from 36 matches: 30 wins, five draws, one defeat. A team at that level effectively ends a title race on its own, because the chasing side never gets the slip it is waiting for.

The runs are just as clear cut. Galatasaray went unbeaten through the first 28 rounds of 2024/25, while Fenerbahçe put together 27 games without defeat in 2023/24 and 25 in 2025/26. At the other end, Adana Demirspor went 18 matches without a win in 2024/25.

The early years put all of this in perspective. In the 1960s, 45 to 50 points was often enough to win the league, with far fewer fixtures and two points for a win. Format differences belong in every historical comparison.

Attendance figures and the gap inside the league

2025/26 closed with an average of 14,593 spectators per match and 2,656,087 in total. The trend is clearly upward: the average was 12,360 in 2024/25 and 11,027 in 2023/24.

The peaks come from the derbies, as expected. The best-attended fixture of 2025/26 was the 1-1 between Galatasaray and Beşiktaş in front of 51,641. In 2023/24, Galatasaray against Fenerbahçe topped the list with 53,775.

Behind that sits a considerable gap. While the big clubs regularly draw five-figure crowds, individual matches at smaller clubs have been recorded in the hundreds. That spread explains a good part of the financial imbalance between the top and the middle of the table.

Istanbul derby head-to-head records

Beşiktaş and Galatasaray had met 360 times as of March 2026. The record reads 129 wins for Galatasaray, 116 for Beşiktaş and 115 draws, with the series stretching back to the 1920s.

The biggest scoreline in the fixture dates from 1940, a 9-2 for Galatasaray. Nothing like it happens now: the gap in quality has narrowed and the tactical approach has become far more cautious. Over the past decade, derbies between the big three have very often been settled by one or two goals.

One rule detail matters statistically: in Turkey, level points are separated first by the head-to-head record, not by goal difference. Derbies therefore count twice in a title race, once as three points and once as a tiebreaker.

Why league size changes make records hard to compare

Something most statistics tables leave out: the number of clubs in the Süper Lig has never stayed fixed for long. 2023/24 had 20 teams and 380 matches, 2024/25 had 19 teams and 324, and from 2025/26 the league runs with 18 clubs and 306 fixtures.

That reduction feeds straight into the data: fewer rounds, fewer chances for a striker, a lower points ceiling and a smaller total goal count per season. Putting the 812 goals of 2025/26 next to the 1,062 from 2023/24 without that note gives a distorted picture.

The number of relegation places moved too, with four clubs going down in 2024/25 and three in 2025/26. Both were part of the federation's plan to shrink the league gradually.

For judging records, the rule is simple: rates beat totals. Points per game, goals per 90 minutes and win percentages survive a format change; cumulative figures only partly do.

Where to follow live Süper Lig statistics

If you would rather track the numbers as they happen than read them afterwards, these sources are the most reliable in practice:

  • The official TFF site: tables, fixtures, card records and suspensions, updated right after full time.
  • The table on this page: pulls the same TFF data and shows points, goal difference and top scorers for the current season.
  • Live broadcasts: possession, shots, expected goals and distance covered appear on screen during the match.
  • Statistics portals such as WorldFootball and Transfermarkt: historical series, squad values and minutes played going back decades.
  • Club channels: detailed player data, often including figures published nowhere else.
  • Sports apps with push alerts: live scores and goal updates, useful when several matches kick off together.

The combination that works best is a live picture alongside a data feed. For viewers outside Turkey, a legal subscription paired with the official TFF tables covers both sides.

A note on data quality: not every source counts the same way. Own goals are attributed differently from site to site, and play-off matches are sometimes listed separately. Where the discrepancy is large, the federation's own statistics are the reference point.

How to read the numbers: form and title odds

Isolated figures mislead easily. Sixty percent possession means little if the finishing does not back it up. The value comes from combinations, such as shots relative to goals scored, or goals conceded relative to clear chances allowed.

A run tells you more than a single match. A side that takes points in eight consecutive games is showing durable form, while one heavy win stays a snapshot. Galatasaray's 28-round unbeaten start in 2024/25 was an early and unambiguous signal of the title that followed.

Anyone weighing title odds should also read the remaining fixtures. Two teams on the same points are not in the same position if one still has both derbies away from home, especially when the head-to-head record is the tiebreaker.

Refereeing decisions belong in the picture as well. VAR reviews can visibly shift season totals for penalties and offside calls, which is worth remembering before drawing conclusions from a single column of data.

The short version: the Süper Lig produces plenty of data, but its value comes from comparison, and comparison only works once league size, match count and format changes are taken into account.
